Project Finals

Workflow for _Yearbook Spread_: Date_11/29/11_
SUHSD Digital Media Showcase

Workspace Preparation:

¯ To get ready for this final I made sure I read the instructions very carefully.
¯ The other thing I did was to have all the pictures needed saved.
¯ And practicing all the skills I would need for this with tutorials.

Creation Process Beginning Steps:

¯ The first thing I did was setup the document with a specific size.
¯ Then I put a black rectangle shape vertically, and started on the header.
¯ For the header I used a gradient overlay of lines colors sky blue and gold with a pattern overlay and some slight noise to make it look bumpy.

Creation Process Continued:

¯ After I was done with that I measured all the pictures and made them 8 inches in width each.
¯ When I put them where I wanted I added a stroke to each one, two with gold and the other two with blue, I also added Bevel and Emboss to give it more effect.
¯ The next thing I did was get a football from the internet and used a layer mask so that only the ball is visible.

Creation Process Finalized:

¯ I then went to the school website and got a picture of our cougar and the name of our school, I also used a layer mask so it would look cleaner.
¯ To make the whole project look better and not have blank spaces I got two more pictures, a helmet and a paw that says cougars on it.
¯ The very last thing I did to add a little school spirit was write the word ROAR which means Responsibility, On time, Attitude, and Respect. I made the word yellow and put a blue stroke and lined it vertically.

Publication Process:

¯ For the publication part I first saved it as a PDF to send it to Mrs. Belanger.
¯ But since Blogger doesn’t let you upload PDF’s I had to save it as  Jpeg.
¯ The last thing I did was hit publish on the Website.

Comments

For someone to master the techniques I used to make this Yearbook Spread they would need practice. For example the tutorials we do in class, those are really helpful to us. Another thing would be repeating what I wrote in this workflow many times until they know how to do it by memory. So, that’s some ways someone can master the techniques needed for this Yearbook Spread.

Reflection

What I made contains some school spirit. For example, the traditional gold and sky blue colors. The emotions I was trying to create when I made this was pride, especially the ones that look down on our football team. The name of this art piece is San Ysidro Football.

Workflow for _Text Effects Final_: Date__9/15/2011__
SUHSD Digital Media Showcase

Workspace Preparation:

¯ To get ready for this Final I practiced with a lot of tutorials.
¯ For example they showed me how to apply filters and layer styles.
¯ Another thing was making sure I knew some expert layer styles.

Creation Process Beginning Steps:

¯ The first thing I did was create a new document 1024x768 transparent.
¯ Then I made a text that said my name and I applied silver with grey gradient and a baby blue outer glow with the opacity set at 100% and a spread of 30. Then I applied a drop shadow with black and 100% opacity.
¯ Then I made a text that said smart, I applied a yellow stroke size 5 and also applied a gradient that was a light grey and dark grey and customized it so it looked like stripes.

Creation Process Continued:

¯ After that I made another text that said happy, for this one it is better to have a bold text because its like a liquid. When you have the first layer you duplicate it and set the fill of both of them to 0%. Then you use the rectangle shape tool and put it on the lower half. Next you’re going to want to use the add anchor tool and move the lines like a liquid. Then press ctrl+alt+t then hit delete and the bottom should be gone. To make it look like a liquid apply a pattern overlay to the fluid.
¯ The next text I made was one that said fun, I made it by adding a bevel and emboss with the settings it comes with then I added a texture with the bubble looking pattern. I also added an outer glow with the opacity at 100% and the size to 13. The last thing on it was an inner shadow at 100% opacity, distance 6, and size 24.
¯ After that one I made another one that said confident, to make this I made the text white, and then I applied a white stroke size 7. After that I applied a gradient overlay going from grey to white. Then I gave it a color overlay of white with the opacity at 21% so it wouldn’t be to dark. To finish it off I put an outer glow with the opacity at 100% and the size 38 and no spread.

Creation Process Finalized:

¯ The second to last text was the one that said relentless, to make this I had to make a pattern of 5 circles. When I was finished with that I applied the pattern on the text and added some layer styles, like an inner glow of white and the opacity set to 100%. I also added a black stroke size 8. To finish with the text I added a bevel and emboss with size 4 and soften to 16 and the rest how it comes.
¯ My last text was the one that says slick. I used a stencil font so it would look more fitted to the styles of it. Before anything I had to rasterize it and I added some noise amount 400. After that I added a red color overlay with the opacity at 67, and a black stroke size 4.

Publication Process:

¯ To save it I saved it as a PNG file and no interlace.
¯ To publish it I browsed it from the computer and opened it on the blogger website and hit ‘’Publish’’.

To master doing these kinds of techniques just needs practice it isnt really hard if figure out how to use filters and applying layer styles. Another thing would be doing tutorials like we do in class, they really help in giving you ideas and learning some new techniques.

Reflection

What I made I didn’t really plan it I just went along with it and didn’t undo anything I did it how it came along like a real piece of art. It is just a couple of words that describe me with some cool looking effects I learned in a couple of tutorials. The title of my piece is ‘’Personal Collage’’, the emotions im trying to create is having fun.

Workspace Preparation:

¯ What I did to prepare myself was making sure my environment was quiet.
¯ Also making sure I had the appropriate pictures needed for the design.
¯ Another thing was learning some new tools quickly to use them on it.
¯That is how I prepared for this final project.

Creation Process Beginning Steps:

¯ First, you open adobe Photoshop and create a new image size 1024x768 transparent.
¯ Then you get any vortex picture and set the opacity to 42%
¯ After that you get a picture of a tiger and add a layer mask.
¯ When masking it only get its face, which symbolizes the picture.

Creation Process Continued:

¯ After that you blend in the tiger with the vortex by changing the opacity to 62%.
¯ While blending it in make sure the face of the tiger is in the middle of the picture.
¯ When done get a picture of a Pittsburgh Steelers player catching a ball.
¯ Then mask off the surroundings and leave only him and the ball.
¯ After get 3 more pictures of the same team and mask all of them.
¯Make sure that you only leave the player and the ball when masking it.
¯ After you’re done with that get a picture of the Steelers logo.
¯ Then set its opacity to 72% so you can put a picture behind it.

Creation Process Finalized:

¯ After changing the opacity mask it and leave only the main logo.
¯ Then get a picture of a star and add a layer mask.
¯ After adding the layer mask, mask everything except the center which should be shining.
¯ Then leave its opacity at 100% and put it right under the Steelers logo.
¯ Make sure that in the layers box that the star is under the Steelers layer.
¯ When it is behind duplicate both the star and the logo.
¯ Then put a logo on each corner and also the star.
¯ And finally you are finished.

Publication Process:

¯ First you open blogger and sign in, then you click on new post and I titled it ‘’Project Final’’ and clicked on the picture icon and browsed my picture. After that I arranged it and made it small and put it on the left.

To master this technique of doing this image isn’t very hard at all just studying the picture can really help in remaking it better. Another thing that can help master is watching somebody make it or seeing all the layers in the bottom right box.

Reflection

When I made this the way I was feeling was motivated and passionate.  The mood I was in is what I was making the people who see this image feel. The tiger in the back of the picture represents how intense the professionals play to win any game pre-season, season, or play-offs. Striving for Victory is the name of the piece I created. The reason I created this was mainly the mood I was in and the pictures I had gathered before making it.
